The Upstream Trail follows the Manuels River through an open, straight valley. Upstream the river has had little impact on the tough igneous bedrock, but downstream the river has eroded a deep gorge in the softer bedrock. The rocks upstream are some of the oldest rocks found in Newfoundland.
The upstream trail starts just outside the Interpretation Centre at the Beaver Bridge and ends at the Conception Bay South Bypass Road. This trail follows the river for 2.5 kilometres (round trip). An alternative route crosses the trestle and follows the T’Railway back to the Interpretation Centre parking lot.
Participate in our Upstream Trail tour to learn more about the geology, flora, fauna, and cultural history of the area.
