School Programming – Kindergarten through Post-Secondary
Our interactive school programs include guided hikes and hands-on science experiments! Our trails provide the perfect setting for outdoor learning with our enthusiastic interpreters. Many of our programs focus on the geology, biology, or environment of the Manuels River valley and meet curriculum needs.
School programs are offered Monday through Friday, September through June.
We currently offer a 4-hour educational program for all visiting school groups, which will cost $10.00 per student (includes tax), with a maximum of 60 students per trip. Programs will run from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. All programs include curriculum-linked classroom components as well as outdoor activities, and may also include guided tours through our exhibits, trail hikes, or educational movies in our 52-seat theatre.
All school programs run rain or shine – if the weather looks as though it will be a problem, we will simply run the program entirely indoors using similar activities centred around the same theme! The only program with major alterations due to weather is our Grade 4: Rocks, Minerals, and Erosion program, which will start at the Centre at 7 Conception Bay Highway in case of rain, instead of at Worsley Park (please see Grade 4 page for details).
Thanks to our generous grant from HMDC, we can also cover 75% (for half-day) or 100% (for full-day) of your bussing and substitute teacher costs! To receive reimbursement, please send us an invoice from your school for the fees along with a copy of the bussing receipt. We will then write a cheque directly to your school and send it to you by mail.
