School Programs

School Programming – Kindergarten through Post-Secondary

Our interactive school programs include guided hikes and hands-on science experiments! Our trails provide the perfect setting for outdoor learning with our enthusiastic interpreters. Many of our programs focus on the geology, biology, or environment of the Manuels River valley and meet curriculum needs.

School programs are offered Monday through Friday, September through June.

We currently offer a 5-hour educational program for all visiting school groups, which costs $10.00 per student (includes tax), with a maximum of 60 students per day.  Programs will run from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM (please contact us if you need to start a program earlier or later to check about availability).  All programs include curriculum-linked classroom components as well as outdoor activities, and may also include guided tours through our exhibits, trail hikes, games, or educational movies in our 52-seat theatre.

Weather

All school programs run rain or shine – if the weather looks as though it will be a problem, we will simply run the program entirely indoors using similar activities centred around the same theme! The only program with major alterations due to weather is our Grade 4: Rocks, Minerals, and Erosion program, which will start at the Centre at 7 Conception Bay Highway in case of rain, instead of at Worsley Park (please see Grade 4 page for details).

Bussing

Thanks to our generous grant from HMDC, we can also cover 100% (for full-day) of your bussing costs! To receive reimbursement:

  • Please pay for your bus upfront
  • Send us a copy of the paid bussing receipt
  • Send us an invoice from your school to Manuels River for the total cost.

We will then write a cheque directly to your school and send it to you by mail.

Please use the tabs to the left to navigate through our K to 3, 4 to 6, and 7 to 12 programs.
