WED, Apr. 25, 10-11am: Little Explorers. Come along for an engaging and interactive hour of stories, songs, activities and play, as we learn about the world around us. $7 per child or free with membership (parent(s) or guardian(s) free). No pre-registration required. This program designed for children 2 to 4 years old and their caregivers.

WED, Apr. 25, 3:30pm: Afterschool Movie: A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004, PG, 108min).  Join us for a movie in our comfortable theatre. We’ll provide the popcorn! Screening is $5 per person or free for members. No pre-registration required. Children under 11 years old must attend with a parent/guardian.

WED, Apr. 25, 2-4pm: Afternoon Cards at Manuels River. If you like a fun game of 120s or crib, we’d love to see you! Cards, crib boards, door prizes, and coffee/tea included.  Instruction provided too, if you have never played but have always wanted to learn.  $5 per player or free with membership.  No pre-registration required.

THUR, Apr. 26, 7pm: Dinner & A Movie. Date night? girls’ night? or just a fun night out? We’ve got you covered at Manuels River, enjoy a delicious three-course dinner by Coffee Matters followed by a movie in our state of the art Theatre. Vote for the movie you want featured on our Facebook event page! Tickets are just $30+HST, and must be purchased in advance by April 24. Call 834-2099 ext. 206 to reserve your spot. Bar service will be available, this is a 19+ event, valid ID required. All tickets are non-refundable.

SUN, Apr. 29, 2-3:30pm: Palaeontology Club. Come join our staff palaeontologist Dr. Rod Taylor for an interactive session about the history of life on Earth. We’ll talk about how fossils form, and look at some of the organisms that have been preserved over the past 700 million years.  $7 per person or free with membership. No pre-registration required. Parent/guardian must attend with children. This program is designed for children aged 7 to 11 years old.

WED, May 2, 3:30pm: Afterschool Movie: Night at the Museum (2006, G, 110min).  Join us for a movie in our comfortable theatre. We’ll provide the popcorn! Screening is $5 per person or free for members. No pre-registration required. Children under 12 years old must attend with a parent/guardian.

THUR, May 3, 7pm: Star Wars Trivia Night. Know the answers to these Star Wars Trivia questions, think you? Join us at Manuels River for Star Wars Trivia Night, there will be prizes, snacks and Cantina service available. Pre-registration is recommended for this event, maximum of 6 people per team, tickets are $10+HST per person and can be purchased by calling 834-2099 ext. 206. This is a 19+ event, valid ID required. All tickets are non-refundable. Costumes are encouraged!

FRI, May 4, 2-5pm and SAT, May 5, 9:30am-12:30pm: Summer Science Camp Registration Blitz!  Weekly camps for children aged 5 to 7 and 8 to 11 (alternating weeks over the summer).  More details and registration forms available on our website.  Phone registration opens on Monday, May 7.

FRI, May 4, 2:30-4:30pm or SAT, May 5, 10:30-12:30pm: Young Scientist: For the Birds. All you bird brains out there, come and learn about our flight-full friends at Manuels River.  No pre-registration required. Parent or guardian must attend with children. This program is designed for children aged 4 to 7. $7 per person (under age 4 free with adult) or free with membership.

FRI, May 4, 6 – 8:30pm: May the 4th Be With You Pre-teen Night. Come celebrate May the 4th Be With You Day at Manuels River with Star Wars themed science, trivia, and games.  Come dressed as your favourite Star Wars character. Pizza and snacks provided. Program is for children aged 10 to 12. Pre-registration required. Call 834-2099 ext. 206 to reserve a spot. $12.50+HST per person.

SAT, May 5, 1-3pm: Make and Take “Cactus Kit Painting Session for Kids” With Mother’s Day around the corner come and enjoy a make and take session with Sandy Legge of “A Little Piece of the Rock” All materials and instruction included. $15+HST per child. Children 5-8 years oldOne adult free per child. Pre-registration required. Members will receive 10% off.  Maximum of 12 children.

SAT, May 12, 1-4pm: Make and Take “Make your Own Bath Bomb” with East Coast Glow Learn how East Coast Glow makes their amazing products by using materials found right here in Newfoundland and then make your very own Bath Bomb. $30 plus HST per person. All Materials and instruction provided. Maximum of 35 people. Pre-registration required. Members get 10% off.

Enjoy 20% off everything in the store, one day only! 9:30-5pm. Members receive an additional 10% off. 

SUN, May 13, 11am & 1pm: Mother’s Day Brunch Buffett. Treat Mom to a delicious brunch buffet at Manuels River, catered by Coffee Matters with live musical entertainment. Sittings will be at 11am and 1pm, Adults – $42; Youth (ages 5-12) – $22 and Children (under 5) – $12, all prices are subject to HST, members receive 10% off. Each brunch reservation includes admission to our Exhibits and theater for the day. Reservations are required and must be made by 5pm on Friday, May 11. SUN, May 13, 12pm & 2pm: Mother’s Day Movie. Join us for a Mother’s Day movie in our comfortable theatre! We will be showing ‘Arctic Tale’, which follows the story of mothers and their young in the wild. Included with the price of admission.

WED, May 16, 3:30pm: Afterschool Movie: Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017, PG, 89min). Join us for a movie in our comfortable theatre. We’ll provide the popcorn! THUR, May 17, 7pm: Travel & Wine: Mongolia.
Take an adventure to one of the most remote places on the planet.  Join Geographers Trevor Bell and Gillian Davidge as they share their passion for the amazing landscape and people of Western Mongolia. While we won’t be tasting the traditional Mongolian drink of Airag (fermented mares milk), we will try some locally distilled vodka, Mongolia’s other national drink.  Peter Wilkins, from the Newfoundland Distillery, will be on hand to guide us through a sampling of their vodka, gin and seaweed gin. FRI, May 18, 2:30-4:30pm or SAT, May 19, 10:30-12:30pm: Young Scientist: Science of Camping. “It’s the 24th of May and we likes to get away”… Join us to learn how to be a happy camper! TUES, May 22, 7:30 to 9pm: Birds of Manuels River 101. Curious about the wildlife that you share your home and trails with? In this upcoming indoor evening bird-themed workshop, you’ll learn how to identify, attract, and protect our feathered friends. Learn to use four different ways to identify some of the common birds found right here at Manuels River and master binoculars like a pro with hands-on demos. Start to see a whole new world around you, and make your hikes a whole lot more fun with your new skills. Workshop offered in partnership with Corthylio Conservation. Pre-registration required. TUES, May 22 & 29, 6pm-9pm: Café Game Night. Drop by the Coffee Matters Café in the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre every Tuesday night beginning on May 22 to enjoy some games with friends or family! Pick out a board game from our selection, or bring your own to play while you treat yourself to a coffee or snack from Coffee Matters. All ages welcome, no admission and games are free to play!

Wednesday, May 23, 4:30pm-6:30pm: Jam Making Session with Sarah Macaulay “The Jam Lady”. Cost is $45 + HST. Learn how to make your own jam using the freshest ingredients. Fun for the whole family! This will include a minimum of 4 jars per person take home. All materials and instruction provided. Maximum of 12 people. Pre-registration required. Members get 10% off.
